Richard Farkas is a student of Buddhism and Tibet, and a practicing
Tibetan Buddhist. He was co-founder (with his wife Julie) of the Tibetan
Buddhist Community of Lexington (Kentucky).
He has traveled to India, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and has visited
Dharamsala, home of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile.
He has done freelance design and typesetting for Snow Lion Publications,
worked with the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center of
Bloomington, Indiana, and served on the board of directors of the
Drepung Gomang Institute in Louisville, Kentucky.
He has a degree in journalism/photography and English from the
University of Maryland, and has been a freelance photographer (covering
the Dalai Lama six times since 2000). Most recently, he worked at the
University Press of Kentucky designing and typesetting books.
Semi-retired, Richard lives in Lexington, Kentucky, with his wife Julie and their two cats, Karma and Kitty.
