Description
The great Indian master Buddha Sakyamuni presented a variety of approaches to discovering wisdom and compassion. His teachings lead to the many traditions and schools of Buddhism that we have today. But at the same time it can be said he taught one dharma, the nature of mind and of minds world. To illustrate the interdependence of all things, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche teaches dependent origination. From a vajrayana point of view he describes links of unaware thought that leads us farther away from awareness of genuine reality. He points out we are not seeing the real world, but we have created a new one, layering it over the true one. Unawareness leads to negative actions that lead to suffering. Rinpoche presents not with an academic step by step lecture, but with delightful, practical means to working with ones own mind. For example, instead of describing the first link of ignorance, he implores us to not look for the answer, but to continually ask questions so as to find the right question that will bring us to certainty within our own mind. Understanding these links of dependent origination will help answer the question: Am I engaged in the right causes for happiness?
This teaching was a joint presentation of The Interdependence Project and Nalandabodhi New York held at the Tibet House, New York City.
Taught in English. Two talks on one MP3 CD.
