Description
Artisit tashi was born in 1973 in Gyarong in Amdo province. When he was six years old he entered the monastic life in Tsodun Kirti monastery and studied Buddhist philosophy. He also profoundly learned the Tibetan traditional art of painting and effigy. After coming into exile in 1993 he entered the Kirti Jepa monastery, where he continued his study of Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan political and religious history and Tibetan grammar and poetry for six years. Furthermore, in order to learn precisely the art of painting he joined the art section of the Tibetan library and comprehensively studied the incomparable traditional art of painting of the Menthangpa school for a few years beginning in 1998. Consequently he graduated in the fields of Tibetan painting. Following his graduation from the Tibetan library, he cautiously self studied the kinds of modern arts like oil and water colour painting. Unitl now he has drawn Thangka paintings of divine images. In short, Lobsang Tashi is not only skilled in both fields of ancient and modern art, he is also a renowned living Tibetan artist who has perfected the studies and practices of various other arts such as effigy and thangka stitching.
