Lama Yeshe Gyamtso presented this excellent teaching, "The Practice of Dharma", at Karma Triyana Dharmachakra in October of 2006. In it he discusses the basic foundations of Tibetan Buddhist practice from the point of view of the Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana paths, in an articulate and easy to follow manner.
Included in this teaching are discussions on:
-The Four Noble Truths, the Buddha's first teaching.
-The Four Seals of the View, the most basic tenets held by practitioners.
-The Four Establishments of Mindfulness, the recollections of body, sensation, mind, and dharmas.
-The Four Systems of the View, a brief examination of how different schools designate the Two Truths.
-The Four Reliances, the method to correctly engage in the Path.
Lama Yeshe Gyamtso is one of the foremost translators of Tibetan Buddhism in the West. He has translated for His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Kalu Rinpoche, Kenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, Bardor Tulku Rinpoche, and many others. In this discussion, he shares some of the teachings and stories he has gathered from these great masters, and presents them in a way entirely accessible to the Western practitioner. |
