An introduction to Tibetan medicine by one of its foremost practitioners. In the West, people often think of Tibetan medicine primarily as a spiritual healing system, but it is important to remember that it is actually a medical science developed through thousands of years of objective analysis, intuition and insight.
Dr. Dorjee, one of the most senior and renowned Tibetan medical practitioners outside Tibet, is married to Dr. Yeshi Khando Dorjee, who practices Tibetan medicine in Majnu-ka-Tila in Delhi. Their eldest daughter, Tenzin Yangkyi, graduated with a B.Sc. from St. Joseph College, Darjeeling and holds a degree in Tibetan Medicine and Surgery from the Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Saranat, Varanasi. Their younger daughter, Tenzin Choeying, holds a BA in Political Science (Honours) from Delhi University and has recently graduated from the Tibetan Medical College in Dharamsala.
