Phil Thornton crafts a soundscape that captures the ambiance of a sacred temple in the Himalayas with TIBETAN MEDITATION. Synthesized atmospheric effects wash through the pieces, lending the music a dreamy sort of surrealism. The earthy sounds of Tibetan horns, singing bowls, bells, gongs and other temple-oriented instruments are woven into the fabric as well, while the harmonic presence of overtone chant drones on in the background. This music was designed to aid in meditative practices. To that end, the liner notes offer instructions on how to perform Tibetan meditation, as described in the writings of his holiness, the Dalai Lama.
