Mr. Tsewang Jigme Tsarong, who has taken over a decade to document these plants, was born in Lhasa, Tibet. After receiving his formal education at St. Joseph's College, Darjeeling, India and graduating from Valparaiso University, Indiana, U. S.A., he served as Executive Director (1975-1982) and Director of Research and Development (1990- 1993) of the Tibetan Astro, and Medical Institute, Dharmsala, India. An avid golfer and author of Fundamentals of Tibetan Medicine and Handbook of Traditional Tibetan Drugs, Mr. Tsarong presently devotes his time and energy towards the propagation, preservation, and development of Tibetan medicine.
