Description

The Story of Gautama Buddha
"If Prince Siddhartha lives in a palace, he will be the greatest and most powerful rajah in the world. but if he live outside the palace, he will be a beggar. All the suffering he sees in the world will make him suffer, and he will be too compassionate to bear it."
This was the prophecy of the wisest Brahman in India upon the prince's birth.
And though the rajah tried valiantly to protect his son from all the sorrows in the world, Siddhartha did learn of sickness and old age and death, and he did feel immense compassion. So the prince fled the pleasures of his father's palace and became a beggar. But it was as a beggar that this man would change the world.
His great compassion drove him to search for a way to end the suffering all people endured. And eventually he discovered the way within his own heart and mind. People came to him and saw that he had wisdom to teach them. And so they called him "The Enlightened One."
He had become the Buddha.
