Taking Refuge in the Three Jewels will lead us on the path to Enlightenment. With enlightenment, our lives will be full of compassion and wisdom. This album reflects the serene voice of Imee Ooi in a relaxed and soothing style that conveys the happiness of compassion, contentment, and the freedom from attachment.
"The Stanzas of the Lion of Men," portrays the Buddha's noble virtues at the time of His first visit to Kapilavatthu after His Enlightenment as narrated by Princess Yasodhara to her son, Rahula. Sung in a most graceful manner, Imee OOi's peaceful rendition of this classic brings to our hearts the story of the greatest teacher of all mankind.

A music producer, composer, arranger and vocalist, Imee Ooi is a well known personality in the Buddhist Music scene. She was born in a musical family in Malayasia. Her grandfather plays the piano, her grandmother taught her singing and her mother is a piano teacher. Quite naturally Imee learned music early. She attained a piano degree, taught piano and spontaneously composed and arranged music. In 1996, Imee had been inspired by the album The Great Mercy Mantra, which was very popular in Taiwan then, and she began to create a new genre of new-age music presenting the Sutras and Mantras. Her work has since received rave reviews and overwhelming responses. Imee has published more than 30 Buddhist albums by now, including the internationally acclaimed The Chant of Metta and Om Mani Padme Hum.
Imee Ooi's Buddhist music is becoming an important representative in the Buddhist musical culture.
