Description

The yellow Tara, Nor.Terma, is the eleventh of the 21 Taras, which are said to be the embodiment of the Buddha's active compassion. Her name can be translated as the "Giver of Wealth". In her left hand she holds the blue Utpala flower, which symbolizes the knowledge of the three times: the open flower represents the past, the closed bud the future and the just opening the present. In her right hand she holds a vase containing nectar that nourishes all those who feel impoverished. With her mantra she commands all worldly gods and rescues beings tormented by the three sufferings. The three levels of suffering are constituted by an outer, inner and secret aspect: the outer aspect concerns physical hardship, such as financial insecurity and material poverty; the inner aspect concerns mental hardship, such as miserliness and loneliness; and the secret aspect concerns spiritual hardship, such as lacking any guidance on the dharma path.
Nor.terma removes all obstacles and purifies negative imprints so that her followers become inexhaustible treasures, holding close in their minds the wish to achieve enlightenment so as to benefit all beings.
