Description

After the world was stunned in 2001 by the Taliban regime's demolition of two Giant Buddhas at the Bamiyan site in Afghanistan, the site was hastily added to the World Heritage List, and the List of World Heritage in Danger. Restoration and conservation projects are still being conducted. Since 2003, the NRICPT and NNRICP have collaborated on investigations of Afghanistan's archaeological sites and cultural landscapes. This volume reports the results of studies of the Bamiyan Buddhist Caves conducted in November 2005 and October 2006.
