Description   Founded in the fourteenth century, Gelugpa or Dge-lugs-pa (Tibetan: "Model of virtue"), often known as the Yellow Hats, referring to the distinctive yellow headdress worn by the monks, is the predominant Buddhist order in Tibet, to which the Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama belong. The religious chants heard on this recording follow esoteric Tantric rituals; the texts are those of Vajrayana (Tantric Buddhism). The vocal and instrumental techniques employed are quite amazing. These chants are considered as offerings and accompaniments to meditation.
