The present monograph has the Samahita Bhumih and Asamahita Bhumih chapters of the Basic Section of the Yogacarabhumi as its main textual basis (MTB). Regarding the Sanskrit text, this book is based on the critical editions in Delhey 2009 and 2006, respectively, together with the corrigenda of the edition in Delhey 2009, which can be found in Delhey 2023a. The main basis of the Chinese text compared with the two aforementioned chapters as contained in the Taisho edition of the Chinese Buddhist Canon.

Martin Delhey is a full-time researcher on Sanskrit manuscripts at the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures, University of Hamburg, since 2011. Before completing his PhD thesis on early Yogacara literature in 2002, he studied classical Indology in Hamburg and at Kyoto University in Japan. After 2002, Martin Delhey developed several further research interests in Indian Buddhist studies, namely ethics, early Tantric literature, and manuscriptology. During that time, he held various teaching and research positions in Germany, including an assistant professorship at the University of Gottingen and a limited-term professorship in temporary replacement of the chair holder of Sanskrit at the University of Hamburg. He also spent one year in Japan in his capacity as a research fellow at the International Institute for Buddhist Studies, Tokyo, and the Ryukoku University, Kyoto.
