Tibetan: byang chub sems dpa
Sanskrit: bodhisattva

Product Code: G00096

In the mahayana tradition, a bodhisattva dedicates his or her existence throughout all rebirths to the attainment of enlightenment in order to liberate other beings who are suffering in samsara. The bodhisattva ideal is in contrast to the way of arhats and pratyekabuddhas, who attain nirvana solely for their own benefit.
