Description   One of the ten major disciples of Buddha Shakyamuni, and his personal attendant and received more teachings than any other disciple. He was a cousin of the Buddha and Devadatta was his brother. Ananda was known for his excellent memory. He recited the collection of sutra teachings at the first council held in Rajagriha. He attained enlightenment under the guidance of Mahakashyapa.
